The Day a Butterfly Landed on My Nose – A Moment of Magic I’ll Never Forget
Today, I experienced one of those rare moments where time stands still — a moment so perfectly timed, it felt like the universe reached down just to remind me that magic is real.
I was walking a group of children back from their gym class — a class I don’t normally teach, so I didn’t know the kids very well. As we walked, a little girl quietly grabbed my hand and started telling me about a dream she had the night before. In her dream, a butterfly kept landing on her nose — again and again, like the scene was stuck on repeat.
She said her mother told her that when a butterfly lands on your nose, it’s a sign of good luck.
That’s when a silly old children’s song popped into my head — a tune about a bunny with a fly on its nose. I smiled and started singing it to her, changing the words just for fun:
“Sweet little girl has a butterfly on her nose, sweet little girl has a butterfly on her nose… and this butterfly brings good luck.”
The kids loved it. Before I knew it, twenty children were singing along, laughing, and playfully making bunny ears behind each other’s heads. The sidewalk filled with joy.
I smiled and joked, “Now all we need is the butterfly.”
And just as the words left my mouth — it happened.
A real butterfly appeared out of nowhere… and landed right on my nose.
For a second, we all froze. The kids gasped, their eyes wide with wonder. One of them shouted, “You’re magic!” and honestly… in that moment, I felt like maybe I was.
What are the odds? I still don’t know how to explain it. It was like something out of a dream — hers, mine, maybe even the universe’s.
Later, I realized the butterfly was injured. It was missing part of its leg and probably landed on me because it couldn’t fly properly. Gently, I helped it onto a twig and moved it somewhere safe. But that moment — the timing, the laughter, the pure wonder — stayed with me.
I know none of us will forget it.
It felt like a sign, like life whispering: You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.
Lately, I’ve been working hard on shifting my mindset — becoming more mindful, choosing my words carefully, raising my energy. I’ve felt it in small ways — better moods, more connection with people around me — but this… this was the universe showing off.
And maybe that’s what creating your dream life really is: tuning in, raising your energy, showing up… until one day, the magic can’t help but find you.
